Melissa Gillooly
Project Director - AMSPDC Pediatrics Workforce Initiative
Melissa Gillooly is the Project Director for the AMSPDC Pediatrics Workforce Initiative. She brings over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare, program development, and strategic planning, with expertise in both domestic and global settings.
Most recently, Melissa served as the interim Administrative Director for the Department of Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center, where she managed a $34M budget and a team of ten. Her initiatives included implementing value-based compensation plans for physicians and strengthening the department’s research infrastructure. Prior to this, as Director of Professional Operations at Boston Medical Center, she oversaw the department’s annual operating budget, faculty recruitment, and fundraising efforts for pediatric programs.
Melissa also has significant nonprofit leadership experience. As Executive Director of Primary Care Progress (now Intend Health Strategies), she developed organizational strategy, managed daily operations, and led successful fundraising efforts. She collaborated with medical schools, government agencies and professional associations to enhance primary care and improve workforce development.
Her global experience includes managing a $64M budget across ten countries as Manager of Global Programs at Partners In Health. As Project Manager in Rwanda, she worked closely with the Rwandan Ministry of Health and the Clinton Foundation to develop a national rural health plan and further solidified her expertise in building and managing large-scale healthcare projects.
Melissa holds a Master of Public Policy, with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Trinity College.
